Those rates were then compared to industry benchmarks. There are seven industries represented in the study:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Beverage and tobacco product manufacturing<\/li>\n<li>Educational services<\/li>\n<li>Hospitals<\/li>\n<li>Machinery manufacturing<\/li>\n<li>Merchant wholesalers, durable goods<\/li>\n<li>Professional, scientific, and technical services<\/li>\n<li>Utilities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n    <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n<!-- Divider -->\n<hr class=\"block--divider\" style=\"border: none; height: 1px; margin-bottom: 0; margin-top: -35px; background: transparent \">\n<!-- Divider end-->\n\n\n\n\n<section id=\"block_a4bf3212e788889709b179538e5deb15\" class=\"block block--wysiwyg background--white \">\n    <div class=\"container\">\n    <div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<h3 class=\"column\">The Methodology<\/h3>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>This study leveraged the Bureau of Labor Statistics Quartile Datasets of total OSHA recordable cases by industry<sup>1<\/sup> to create industry standard benchmarks of OSHA recordable rates per 100 employees. Additionally, the study incorporated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcg.com\/odg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Official Disability Guidelines (ODG)<\/strong><\/a> data to create benchmarks to understand the expected time away from work for the occupational injuries and illnesses. Employers were analyzed through their first five years of operation with Premise, with go-live dates ranging from 1999-2016. Each year showed OSHA recordables rates that ranged from <strong>41% to 52%<\/strong> lower than industry benchmarks.<\/p>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 2\">\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>In addition to preventing recordable injuries from happening in the first place, partnership with Premise led to faster recoveries when injuries and illnesses did occur.
